I sold my 1st Gen iPhone before the launch to take advantage of the resale value, but when these cracks came out... I was like "I shouldn't have sold my iPhone!!!"
Anyway, if you ask me, if you really need 3G and a GPS go for the Black 3G as the cracks are "hidden", but its more prone to smudges from regular use.
If you dont need the battery drain of a 3G and GPS Chip, I'd find myself a 1st Gen iPhone instead... same specs and a lot cheaper... then buy the new iPhone coming next year...(probably in June 2009)
